21m Research Vessel

Fassmer and the Alfred-Wegener-Institute for Polar and Marine Research signed a contract for a 21m research vessel, which is to be employed in the Wadden Sea (German, Dutch and Danish North Sea coastal areas where large expanses of sea fall dry at low tide).

This 21m vessel, with a moulded beam of 6m and a maximum speed of 10kn, is the fifth research vessel built by the Fassmer shipyard. Its design is based on its successful “BL21” model. Due to its robust design, its flat hull and its professional research equipment, it can easily be operated in shallow waters and offers best working conditions for the crew and scientists on board. In order to reduce its pollution to a minimum, the vessel was built according to the latest “green” standards (“Green Passport” / “Blue Angel ship design”).
