The SOLEA has room for a 14-person crew and seven scientists. The extensive equipment on board supports both conventional trawling and beam trawling.
The vessel is provided with advanced research and laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Its diesel-electric drive is extremely economical and operates at a very low noise level – in full compliance with ICES (Report 209), it is one of the quietest vessels in the world.
