Processing

Cutting and processing composite elements and components is a challenge for every manufacturer.

Fassmer employs a range of different assembly devices and cutting devices (CNC), in order to meet the customers’ increasingly demanding requirements.

The tools themselves also have to comply with special standards. Composite materials are inhomogeneous and put a varying strain on the tools, leading to a high degree of wear and tear. Materials with a high resin content are prone to spalling and delamination.

CNC (computerised numeric control)

Modern CNC milling machines enable a wide range of processing options for components of all standards.

These machines can fabricate plastic elements with a high precision, according to individual specifications – be it an individual item or a mass-produced series. CNC machining allows for extremely good fitting accuracy and precision, despite the stringent requirements.

Fassmer has three CNC machining centres where five-axis milling machines can process wooden, plastic or metal components with a size of up to 5,800 x 12,000 x 3,000mm.

Robots

Special precision, reproducibility requirements and large quantities call for a higher degree of automation.

For this purpose, Fassmer relies on robotic support, for example for gluing SMC elements into high roofs in the automotive industry.
